Zermatt is one of my most favorite Swiss destinations! I’ve visited it last year, but the weather was so bad that we weren’t even able to see the most important attraction of this city - Matterhorn mountain.
So, we decided to visit it this year, hoping that the weather would be more favorable to us this time. And luckily it was!
For those who has never been to Zermatt before: you need to know that Zermatt is a car-free village. So, you need to leave your car in a village Tasch (there are lots of parkings there, the average price is 16 CHF for 1 day), and then to take a train to Zermatt (it goes every 20 minutes, the price of one-way ticket is 8 CHF).
We stayed at “SchlossHotel Zermatt” - a 4* Superior Hotel located in the heart of Zermatt (only 2 minutes walk from the Gornergrat railway station. This is a big advantage because you will need a train to go to ski or to visit Matterhorn).
We had a huge House Suite with a bedroom, living room, kitchen and 2 balconies with mountain view.

The hotel has a wonderful gym with high-qualified coaches who can teach you yoga and Pilates. But my biggest pleasure was the first in Switzerland CBD SPA center, that has a huge warm swimming pool (28-30 degrees!!) with jacuzzi beds; hammam (steam room), cold room, salt room, Finnish sauna and CBD sauna.
Here I also had my first CBD massage experience which I liked it a lot! My therapist Claudia put a few drops of CBD oil in my mouth before my treatment and informed me that in 10 minutes I will feel the effect of the product (oh God, she was right, it calmed me down so much!) and then I had a full body massage. It was so enjoyable, I wish it has never end!
After the treatment I felt totally renewed. CBD oils smoothed my skin, calmed me down and made me feel even more relaxed.
❗️Just for your information: CBD is a naturally occurring compound found in the resinous flower of cannabis, it is NON-PSYCHOACTIVE and safe to use.
The next day we visited Matterhorn. We took a train from Zermatt to Gornergrat, where the view on Matterhorn is the best. The prices for the train hurt a bit - 80 CHF for a round trip for one person. But it totally worth it! The view is magical - a true paradise for ski and sleigh fans! However, I wouldn’t suggest this place for the beginners because the slopes are really difficult, even the easiest ones (trust me, I cried there last year because I was extremely scared to go down).
Unfortunately, the restaurants were closed because of Covid-19, so we didn’t have a chance to eat fondue with a Matterhorn view. But I saw people bringing their own food from home and doing picnic right in the snow.
Please note that some restaurants at hotels are opened only for their customers, otherwise you can order room service or food delivery.
Would I recommend Zermatt for visiting? Definitely yes! I’ve been here twice and I know that I will return again! But this time probably in summer, it would be nice to hike here and maybe even sleep in a tent meeting a sunrise!
