THERE IS NOTHING TO SEE IN PROVENCE EXCEPT LAVENDER? Gorges du Verdon - one of the most popular tourist places in France
There are a lot of people who think that there is no more interesting places to see in Provence except lavender fields. After visiting Provence two times during this month I can confidently state that it’s not true!
Provence is one of the most beautiful regions in France, it welcomes around 31 million tourists every year. This fact makes Provence the most visited region in France among locals and the second visited region after Paris among foreign tourists.
In these pictures you can see Gorges du Verdon - a river canyon about 25 km long and up to 700 metres deep. It is considered to be one of Europe's most beautiful canyons.
Warm turquoise water, breathtaking view on the mountains, waterfalls… When I saw all this I got a strong desire to forget all my problems, take a kayak and to row till the end of the lake!
In case you’re a kayak lover like me, this post is for you!
The price of kayak is approximately 15-20€ for 2 for 1,5-2hours. We took a kayak for 4 hours and it was more than enough. In high season you need to pre-book your kayak online or come at 9-10 am directly to the beach. After 2 pm there are no more kayaks available!
What do you need to take with you:
-Sunscreen. Be careful, the sun is very dangerous here in summer. Don't forget to renew your sunscreen every time after swimming.
-Water. If you don’t want to drink water from the lake :D
-Snacks. Some food that can be still good after the heat and the burning sun.
You can protect your stuff from water due to waterproof bag or a big can that you can usually take for free with your kayak.
