What to do and Where to stay in Chamonix during COVID-19?

Fun fact: we live only 1 and a half hour from Chamonix but we’ve never stayed at the hotel there!  So we decided that we should continue exploring France while traveling abroad is prohibited. 

For those who has never been to Chamonix: Chamonix is one of the most popular ski resorts in France. The greatest pride and the most visited place in Chamonix is Mont Blanc mountain - the highest mountain in the Alps (4808 m above the sea). Mont Blanc is the second highest mountain in Europe and it is well known for a wide range of outdoor activities , especially in winter.

However, this year because of COVID-19, ski resorts are closed everywhere in France. So, we decided to organize a SPA retreat weekend for ourselves in Grand Hotel des Alpes Chamonix.

Located in the heart of French Alps, the hotel has truly magical mountain views and easy access to the lifts to L’Aiguille du Midi and Mer de Glace - the most famous sightseeing destinations. The hotel is newly renovated and has 30 rooms and suites.

We were particularly impressed by the beauty of the SPA with mountains view! Big swimming pool with a separate jacuzzi tub, hot sauna, steam room and relaxing room with a salt wall… Obviously, we tried them all!

I should also mention that it is probably one of the best hotels that we visited this year, where Covid-19 measures were respected that much! Everything was organized so well that we literally haven’t even seen anyone during our stay!

 We were alone at the SPA (because you need to book it in advance and it becomes private only for you), we had our breakfast and gastronomic dinner in the room (and it was a great experience! I’ve never eaten restaurant food wearing my bathrobe before!). It’s been a year that we haven’t visited any restaurants in France because of pandemic, so this dinner was a real treat for us!

I loved my stay at Grand Hotel des Alpes Chamonix and I will definitely come back one day!
